今日は、南魚沼市の塩沢地域で行われた小さな収穫祭に行ってきました。
Maybe too small to be called a festival.
お祭りというには小さすぎるかも。
Anyway, they held a lottery there, and I won this bag of newly harvested Shiozawa Koshihirari rice!
とにかく、そこで抽選があり、私はこの新米のコシヒカリを１つ当てました。
They sold the same 1-kg bags of rice outside the house for 780 yen each.
建物の外では、同じ1kg入り袋がひとつ780円で売ってました。
Can you tell what the stickers say? They say:

シールになんて書いてあるか分かりますか？こう書いてあります。

Hakka tou (Japanese-mint candies), which is a specialty of the Shiozawa area.

OK, so what's the very best way to eat such premium Koshihikari rice? Answer: make onigiri (rice balls) and have them.

I forgot to mention that they offered kinoko jiru (mushroom soup) there free of charge. How generous!
キノコ汁を無料で配っていました。太っ腹。
