March is graduation season in Japan. At my children's elementary school, the graduation ceremony was held in the morning, followed by the thank-you party in the afternoon. My son was one of the graduates, and my wife attended the graduation ceremony, and I participated in the thank-your party.
日本では3月は卒業の季節です。私の子供達の通う小学校では、卒業式が午前中に行われ、続いて午後に謝恩会が開かれました。私の息子も卒業生の一人で、卒業式には妻が出席し、謝恩会には私が参加しました。
The thank-you party was held in Joetsu Kokusai, one of the largest ski resorts in Japan, which is not far from the elementary school.
謝恩会は、小学校からほど近い、日本で最大級のスキーリゾート「上越国際」で行われました。

Thanks for the pictures! It makes me miss Japan so much. I love hotel food in Japan, especially for breakfast. I can't wait to go back.
ReplyDeleteHello, I really enjoy reading your blog - thank you for making it bilingual! I have a recipe with a few short notes written in Japanese, and I was having a little trouble reading some of it. I was wondering if you could help me, if you're not too busy?
ReplyDeletepink: So, you've been to Japan?! That's wonderful! I've never been to your country... (sad)
ReplyDeletetapering: OK, if it's not too long (laugh). Just point me where it is.
It's the very last character in this. I'm not sure what it means.

ReplyDeleteI didn't expect it was that short (laugh)!

Espresso (small amount)
少量 shou (small) + ryou (amount)
Is it now clear?
Yes, I have been to Japan (Tokyo, to be exact). Only once, and it was a few years ago. But I loved everything about Japan. I hope to go back soon, and this time, I would like to visit either Hokkaido, or Osaka. :)
ReplyDeleteHiroyuki, it's a lovely buffet. The food is all very attractive. I truly enjoy takoyaki which I believe is one of the dishes.
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad to see that your wife's health has improved.
Barb: Thanks for your kind words about my wife!
ReplyDeleteTakoyaki, yes! I was amused to see them there, but unfortunately, the takoyaki didn't compare with the authentic one, which should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
