Circumhorizontal Arc/環水平アーク

Yesterday, past ten o'clock in the morning, my daughter said that there was a straight rainbow in the sky. We went outside and took some photo, together with one video.

昨日は午前10時過ぎ、娘が空に真っ直ぐな虹があると行って来ました。二人で外に出て、写真を何枚か、それにビデオを撮りました。

An evening TV news program reported on this rainbow, saying that this type of rainbow is called a "sai-un" (cloud iridescence).
夕方のテレビのニュース番組でもこの虹のことを取り上げ、このような虹のことを彩雲と言う、と言っていました。

But, today, I learned the right word for this type of rainbow from today's newspaper: circumhorizontal arc.
でも、今日、今日の新聞でこのような虹の正しい名前が分かりました：　環水平アーク。
