Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2015 started on July 26, and I visited it on August 1. Of the many old and new artworks I saw, the new artwork by Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, who created the Rice Field for the first Echigo-Tsumart Art Triennale in 2000, stands out from others, in my opinion. I want to learn more about this particular artwork, which makes me think of Shakespeare's "Seven Stages of Life", and I will update this post as soon as I do.
I posted a video to YouTube, although the quality is very low (I didn't mean to post it to YouTube when I took it.)
Slightly disturbing but truly fascinating.
ReplyDeleteKatrin: This and most other artworks are "site-specific", and that's why I wanted to include a video that shows not only the artwork itself but the environment surrounding it. You really have to go there to truly appreciate the artwork.
