Staying with My Parents/

My family stayed with my parents in Kimitsu city, Chiba from August 14 through 17.

Here are just a few of the photos I took:

In the Shinkansen train to Tokyo, I had these:

As the name implies, Koshihikari Echigo Beer is made with Koshihikari rice.

My father said he lost all of his sweet potatoes literally overnight.

Wild boars ate them all!

On our way back home, we dropped by Tokyo Okashi Land, located in the Yaesu underground shopping center at Tokyo Station.

And many other shops:

Before riding the Shinkansen, we had lunch at a yoshoku restaurant in the underground shopping center.

They were all good, but were obviously overpriced (1,500, 1,100, and 1,500 yen).  I can't complain because the restaurant is about a one-minute walk from Tokyo Station.

Edited to add these photos:

So-called "ni-hachi" (two-eight) soba, made of 20% wheat flour and 80% buckwheat flour.

My father has taken five soba making lessons so far.  I must say he is a very fast learner.  Soba making is not so easy as you might think.

  1. Hiroyuki, your father's gardening looks great!
If I may, what is your impression of the Koshihikari Echigo Beer? I've seen it a few times in a small import store, but have been hesitant to buy it without knowing anything about it.

  2. Ruminating Roy: It's surprising that you can find it in your country/area.

Sorry, I'm not good at describing what a beer tastes like... I thought it was soft...
