I've talked about this variety of pear several times in my blog, and here I go again.
Niitaka pear produced in Chiba, sold for 258 yen yesterday.
More than 900 g!The sticker says KING OF PAIRS! I totally agree! Niitaka is the king of pairs not only in size but in flavor!
Cut in half,
quartered, pared, and cut into manageable sizes.
I put some pieces in small containers as part of my daughter's bento.
I hope the price will go down to 198 yen so I can buy more of them.
Wow! This pear looks very huge and juicy! We import such pears from Japan, South Korea and China which is expensive in our local supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Man: Oh, I hope it's not too exorbitant in your country!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful nashi! I hope you enjoyed it. We get Asian pears, some which are grown here, and some which are imported. They are really delicious, but the only problem is that they are more expensive because they are big, heavy pieces of fruit.
ReplyDeleteWe get lots of nice apple and pear varieties at this time of year also. It is fun to see the autumn fruits and vegetables coming to the store.
Take care,
Erin from California
We have one in Brazil, which is grafted, very expensive once a year only.
ReplyDeleteErinBear: Apples, pears, and persimmons! I hope I can get some persimmons cheap and show them in my blog.
ReplyDeletediu: Sorry to hear about that. I had thought that it was only in Japan that fruits were exorbitantly expensive.
Dear Hiroyuki,
ReplyDeleteYes! I hope so, too. I have friends who grow persimmons in their backyards here. They grow well where I live. The hard thing is keeping the birds and squirrels away! They like the persimmons, too. They are so sweet.
Take care,
Erin from California
If you were living in my neighborhood I gladly would like to share my nashi harvest with you. This year they are really big and very sweet and lots of them.
ReplyDeleteKiki: Not ruined by pests?! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteMy father told me he could not harvest many persimmons this year because of a long spell of rain.
