Spinach that Survived the Snow/

I previously talked about "chijimi horenso" here in my blog. I wanted to see if I could make something similar to "chijimi horenso", and left some spinach unpicked in my yard. Initially, I planned to pick it much earlier, but I was too lazy to do so, and I finally picked it today.

It looked so unappetizing that I almost gave up picking it.

I finally got this much:

I made "horenso no goma ae" (spinach dressed with sesame seeds). I couldn't tell if it was sweeter than it was before the winter, but it was softer than I had thought.

  2. Jan: Sure, I've already posted a recipe here:
    http://hiro-shio.blogspot.com/2009/02/horensho-goma-ae-spinach-dressed-with.html
This time, for this amount of spinach, I used:
8 tbsp ground white sesame seeds
    3 tbsp soy sauce
    3 tsp sugar

My son is a HUGE fan of spinach goma ae, so I VERY OFTEN make it.

  3. I love this dish too, it’s great!
I have started to work in my garden too; many Japanese plants didn’t survive this hard winter...
