Cooking White Rice, Brown Rice, and Rolled Barley in a Rice Cooker/白米、玄米、押し麦を炊飯器で炊く

White rice is tasty but low in nutrition, brown rice is high in nutrition but not very tasty, and rolled barley is rich in dietary fiber but not very tasty. You can mix them all at a ratio of 1:1:1 and cook them in a rice cooker to have tasty, nutritious, and fiber-rich gohan (cooked rice).
白米は美味しいけど、栄養価が低い、玄米は栄養価は高いが、あまり美味しくない、押し麦は食物繊維は豊富だが、あまり美味しくない。これらを全部1:1:1の割合で混ぜ、炊飯器で炊けば、美味しく、栄養価の高い、食物繊維豊富なご飯を食べることができます。
 
1 go of white rice, 1 go of brown rice, and 1 go of rolled barley
白米1合、玄米1合、押し麦1合
 
Just rinse gently three times. Don't "polish" violently.
Add water for 3 go of white rice. You need not add additional water for brown rice or rolled barley.
軽く3回洗います。激しく研がないで下さい。
白米3合用の水を入れます。玄米や押し麦用に水を足す必要はありません。 
Cook in the rice cooker.
炊飯器で炊きます。
Voila!
できました!

That is a good Idea. I have to try it. We eat rice separate one type only. Either white or brown. I mix millets and Rice flakes for breakfast for myself.

seeandoh: I really do recommend that you try this recipe. You will be surprised at the amount of poop after you are finished in the bathroom.

I will stick to my much beloved white rice :-) Sometimes I eat brown basmati rice too. For lots of fibre consumption I eat fine rolled oats soaked in low fat yoghurt beforehand and mixed with an raffled apple (peel on) and 2 tablespoons of mixed dried chewy berries (goji and blueberries) on a daily base for breakfast, I just add a little water if it is too thick and sticky. Plain awesome medicine for the intestines and helps to keep the blood sugar in control. But this is typical European I guess, Muesli lovers.

Kiki: I have tried to incorporate muesli or granola into my daily diet, but in vain, mainly because white rice is so delicious. I like them as a snack, though. My white rice, brown rice, and rolled barley recipe is the answer to the question, How I can eat, and have my parents eat, a nutritious, fibrous, and yet tasty staple for every meal. I'm glad my parents like it. You could try my recipe once in a while, just for a change!

We simply don't eat rice that often, totally different to asian cultures. I cook dishes using pasta, potato, grains (millet, amaranth, wheat) and rice. But I will give your recipe a try. Today we had Savoy cabbage cream stew and some sort of special potato dumplings called Schupfnudeln. Savoy cabbage is very good for the guts :-)

We have Rice flakes here both white and brown called Aval. It is similar to Corn Flakes. A good breakfast cereal. I sprinkle a little hot water to it and add some crushed jaggery, banana round cuts, raisins and scrapped almonds. Makes a wholesome breakfast. We also have Bamboo Rice and another brown rice called Navara here with good medicinal properties and also good to regulate the blood sugar levels.
