More Meals Offered in the School Canteen at My Daughter's University/娘の大学の学生食堂で出される他の食事

1. Mentaiko (spicy cod roe) cream spaghetti
1. めんたいこクリームスパゲティ
2. Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen
2. しょう油ラーメン 
280 yen. Quite reasonable.
280円。かなりリーズナブルです。
 
3. Curry and rice
3. カレーライス 
280 yen. Quite reasonable, too.
280円。これもかなりリーズナブルです。
 
You can have as much fukujin zuke (red pickle on the right) as you want.
福神漬け(右側の赤い漬物)は好きなだけ食べれます。
 
I remember that when I was a university student, I often had curry and rice, which was 170 yen. I sometimes had katsudon (330 yen), which tasted so good, and had nigiri zushi (< sushi) (480 yen) once in a while.
私が大学生だった頃は、よくカレーライス(170円)を食べ、時々カツドン(330円)(とても美味しかった)、たまに握り寿司(480円)を食べていたことを思い出します。

学生生活を楽しんでいるようですね。息子によると、音大より美大の方が学食の恵まれているようですが、それでも学食の昼食過ぎにしか出さなかった軽食はいまだに懐かしく語っています。

Dotmoll: そうなんですか?美大のほうが、グルメな女子の割合が多いのでしょうか???
ともあれ、食欲旺盛な若い頃に食べたものは、懐かしいものです。

Anonymous: Well, the grass is always greener on the other side. The portions are usually small, and little or no consideration is paid to those who cannot eat certain foods because of their religions.

There is definitely more awareness of halal foods at university cafeterias these days, although not all students have noticed it. What students probably need is enough time to actually get to the cafeteria and eat before lunchtime is over!

学生時代の食べ物。。。確かにパンが山ほどついてきたムール貝の蒸し煮は懐かしいですね。学食ではなく、学生が良く利用していた港付近のカフェでしたが。

The curry seems to be made of beans....is that right ? We have curry made of Kidney beans which looks similar.

seeandoh: I don't think that the curry in the photo contains beans. Japanese curry usually contains potato, carrot, and onion, plus some kind of meat.
