Last night, my daughter and I went to the 62nd Snow Festival in Minamiuonuma.
昨日は、娘と第62回南魚沼市雪まつりに行きました。
I wanted to see this event, "Yuki Hotaru" (Snow Fireflies), among others.
私としては特にこのイベント「雪ホタル」が見たかったです。
Sorry, no detailed descriptions of the photos, except to say that the illumination with LED bulbs was beautiful!
写真の詳しい説明はしませんが、ただ、LED電球のイルミネーションはきれいでした!
Edited to add: My daughter and I each had a bowl of kinoko jiru (mushroom soup), which contained seven different types of mushrooms, and my daughter also had a crepe.
追記: 私と娘はそれぞれきのこ汁(7種類のきのこが入っている)を飲んで、娘はクレープも食べました。

Wow, Hiroyuki. That looks magical.
Bbq Dude: Yes, a magical night, except the fact that you must be very careful when walking on the snowy road. Many people, including us, slipped on the snow, and some even fell down!
This seems to be fun to visit. Lights at night together with snow look always very attractive.
Kiki: Yes, so attractive that you could forget just for a moment all the work you have to do to deal with snow...
What a pretty setting for a festival. I bet that hot soup was just the thing to help enjoy such a crisp, cool setting! Hopefully some day I can be present for something like this.
It's such a rare event to get any snow here, and where I live it would cause untold havoc because most of the population here has only dealt with it a handful of times in a lifetime.
We had a big event too: Happens only a few times in a century: The big local lake is completely frozen and therefor there was a so called Ice-Pleasure. Went there but it was crowded as hell. Music stables, food, mulled wine and hot cocoa and 70.000 people walking and skiting over the lake

I know. Recently, a mere 4 cm (1.5 inch) snowfall caused a major panic in Tokyo.
Kiki: Thanks for the link. You were right about going there! Who wouldn't want to go there if it was a once-in-a-lifetime event!
Hiroyuki: Amusingly, the day I posted my first comment about the snow it actually DID snow here in central Texas. Nothing stuck, and most of it melted before it touched the ground.
Still, it was quite a welcome sight after having gone a few years without it!
