Just wanted to share it with you/ちょっとお見せしたくて

This is one example of an innovative neta (topping) for nigiri.

Seems like a bit of a mouthful? Is that mayonnaise on top?

Chee Fai: Yes, just a small piece of tonkatsu. Mayonnaise and tonkatsu sauce on top.

I will try to take photos of other toppings the next time I go to the kaiten zushi (conveyor-belt sushi) restaurant.

Tonkatsu Nigiri sounds very innovative!

Was this really served at a restaurant? Funny. I'm guessing that the rice seasoning was a little lost in this. :)

Hiroyuki,

Good to see you are still experimenting after all this time!

Like tiny bite sized katsudon.

Looks yummy to me! Was it?

All commenters: So many responses to such a tiny post!

It was not me who made that nigiri, and it wasn't me who ordered it. A friend ordered it at a kaiten zushi restaurant. When I saw it, I laughed and remarked that the tonkatsu was as thick as the shari (vinegared rice), and she told me that she couldn't eat the neta and the shari at the same time. She had the neta first and then the shari.
Was it good? I don't know. She said it was good.

Kappa! The tonkatsu nigiri was MUCH better than the cream stew gunkan-maki they had this spring.

Zenichi: YES! We went to Kappa Zushi. Cream stew gunkan-maki? Kappa is really creative and innovative!
