What's the Matter with the Tomato Plants?/

Kabocha seeds have sprouted from the compost, and have become so big that I have decided to let them grow.

So has one tomato seed.
Such tomato plants can be found here and there in my small yard.

West side of my yard:
These tomato/cherry tomato seedlings are grown by me from suckers.

South side of my yard:
Tomato/cherry tomato seedlings grown from from suckers here too.

I have planted three 3-year asparagus seedlings here, too.
East side:
東側:
Malabar spinach and mulukhiya seedlings. They won't grow!

Mitsuba, mulukhiya, cherry tomato, malabar spinach, etc.
Two varieties of ao jiso (green perilla):
I will pick some leaves pretty soon.

My daughter's "flower garden" is overgrown with peppermint.
East side:
東側:
Four cherry tomato plants are in good condition, despite very shallow soil.

I cut off some peppermint stalks to make room for the three hozuki plants to grow.

I later dried the stems to put in the bathtub.
My rented field. I'm not very happy there.
Four okra seedlings, about ten mulukhiya seedlings, and tomato/cherry tomato seedling that I have grown from suckers on the first and second ridges:
Tomato/cherry tomato seedlings on the third and fourth ridges:
Some tomato seedlings are in good condition,
while others are in bad condition.
Some have already wilted.
About one-third of the tomato/cherry tomato seedlings that I initially planted are in bad condition. It really saddens me to see such a sight.
Anyway, I got some cherry tomatoes from the field two days ago.

I don't grow tomatoes alas, so I cannot give you advice, but the cherry tomatoes look like a big crop! You also have many plants around your house!
I am trying now to grow shiso from the branches sold in my Asian shops (it's red shiso). It starts growing roots in the water. I hope it will work because I have abandoned seeds (I have read recently they might simply be old!).

Sissi: Big crop? But I initially planted more than 20 seedlings! I want a bigger crop! I think I'd better replace the wilted ones with new ones grown from suckers.

Yes, my house is surrounded by tomato/cherry tomato seedlings! That's exactly what my son and I have wanted it to be, so we can have tomatoes/cherry tomatoes readily whenever we want them.

In the water? Hydroponics? I hope you succeed!

Thank you!
It's my mum's trick and it works with many plants: you put the branch into a glass of water, cut off the end and wait. Many plants (not all) grow roots. Then you can hopefully transplant them into soil.
It's my only chance with shiso, but I will buy more seeds when I go to Japan next time.
