Making Low-Salt Umeboshi, Day 6/低塩梅干し作り、6日目

On the morning of yesterday (June 24), I decided to move all the ume to my bedroom, together with the fan.
昨日(6/24)の午後、梅を全て、扇風機も一緒に、自分の寝室に移すことにしました。
 
I was too busy to make a decent lunch.
忙しくて、まともな昼食は作れませんでした。 
Potato salad sandwiches. I made the potato salad with unpeeled potatoes as part of supper last night, which means that the salad contains potato peelings. I have found that such potato salad is quite tasty, much more tastier than the ordinary version made with peeled potatoes.
ポテトサラダのサンドイッチです。ポテトサラダは昨日の夕飯に、皮をむいていないジャガイモで作ったものです。つまり、このサラダにはポテトの皮が入っているということです。このようなサラダはとても美味しく、通常の、皮をむいたジャガイモよりずっと美味しいと思っています。

I turn the fan on occasionally to accelerate the drying.

The ume in the container are now fully pickled in sugar.
容器に入れた梅は、砂糖に完全に浸かっています。 
I tasted one last night, and found it was much less sour due to the addition of sugar, and was quite watery. My wife also tried one, and said she didn't like it. I agreed with her.
Today, I tasted another, and found it was much tastier than the one I had last night.
I think I will follow my father's recipe with a small amount of the ume that are being dried, and pickle the rest of the ume more like a conventional way by adding some more salt.
昨晩、一つ味見したのですが、砂糖のせいで、酸っぱさはぐんと減ったのですが、水っぽかったです。妻も味見したのです、美味しくないそうです。私も同感でした。
今日、またもう一つ味見し、昨晩食べたのよりはずっと美味しくなったと思いました。
父のレシピは、今干している梅の一部で行い、残りの梅は、塩をもう少し足して、従来の方法と似た方法で漬けようと思います。

It's hard to go through all the work, and then the umeboshi don't turn out as well as you hoped. I send good wishes for the next batch!

Well, I enjoy taking the challenge, and I also enjoy taking the challenge of thinking of ways to modify the ume so my wife and I can like them.
