今日は、南魚沼市の塩沢地域にある牧之通りで「新米の陣」という新米祭りが行われました。この祭りは去年までは単に「新米まつり」と呼ばれていました。去年の祭りについてはこのブログのここに書いてあります。また、2006年に行われた祭りについては、eGulletの或るスレッド内の投稿#81以降に書いてあります。

In front of the bank, you can meet Naoe Kanetsugu and her wife, Osen. Naoe Kanetsugu was born in the present Minami Uonuma city, and is now very famous as the main character in the TV drama, "Tenchijin".
銀行の前で、直江兼続とその妻、お船に会えます。直江兼続は現在の南魚沼市で生まれ、テレビドラマ「天地人」の主人公としてとても有名です。

大きなトラックは初出荷に向け、その場を去りました。
Now, the main event of the festival! The just cooked rice was served for free!
さて、お祭りのメインイベントです。炊き立てのご飯が無料で振舞われました。
Needless to say, the rice was good enough, but quite frankly, I was more attracted by the mushroom soup! The soup was also served for free. Very, very generous indeed!
ご飯は言うまでなく美味しかったですが、正直に言えば、きのこ汁のほうが魅力的でした。きのこ汁も無料で振舞われました。本当にすごく太っ腹です！
Members of the kitchen club of one elementary school in the Shiozawa area, as well as another group from another school, also served their respective dishes for free.
塩沢地域の或る小学校のキッチンクラブのメンバーと、他の小学校の別のグループもそれぞれの料理を無料で振舞いました。
