Butter Soy Sauce Flavored Popcorn, etc./

Here are some miscellaneous photos to share.

I'm busy right now, and I will add more text later.

First of all, these photos are for Kiki:
まずは、次の写真はKikiさん用。
Locally grown watermelon, Yairo Suika, M size, sugar content of 13, bought recently for 980 yen.
The producer's name is indicated on the sticker.
Don't ever think that a 980-yen watermelon is expensive! In fact, it's fairly reasonable. Better watermelons can be much more expensive (> 1,500 yen).

Mike POPCORN, Butter Soy Sauce Flavor
I used to buy it often when my children were smaller. Recently, I picked one bag casually, and surprised to see that it has won the MONDE SELECTION Gold Award for two years in a row.
I love this flavor! So do my children!

Top: Chinese-style stir-fry with cashew nuts
Bottom: Katsuo no tataki (seared bonito)
Katsuo no tataki is a favorite of mine. It's both cheap and delicious!
Sorry for a not very appetizing photo. We had it with the supplied sauce (ponzu?).
I made "supa sara" (short for spaghetti salad), using leftover boiled spaghetti.

I got this amount of tomatoes and cherry tomatoes from my rented farm yesterday.
As part of supper last night, I made buta kimuchi (kimchi).
This time, thinly sliced pork and kimuchi only. Nira (Chinese chive) and moyashi (bean sprouts) should be nice additions.

Oh the watermelon looks so YUMMY!!!! I miss Japanese fruit! I was stationed in Okinawa - the melons are much cheaper there. I usually found them for 500 yen. I also loved the giant pears... I can find those in the US, but they are so expensive.

muskrat: Giant pears? How big are they? Are they bigger than niitaka nashi?

Because of the weather, watermelons are rather expensive this summer.

Hiroyuki: Your watermelon looks good. You must live in a warm and sunny area during summertimes, no way we could grow watermelons with our this years cold and so not sunny summer around here. But the mushroom hunters are happy. Mushrooms are growing very good this year.

Hiroyuki-san: Wow! Watermelon is really expensive in Japan! I bought a seedless watermelon from the supermarket...same size as the one pictured in your photo. It was $3 US!

Hiroyuki, congratulations for the tomatoes! They look so delicious and natural. Like the "real", good tomatoes. The sugar content indication will always amaze me. It's perfect for me (I hate oversweet watermelons). I could pay a big price just to be sure it will taste good. I haven't had kimchi for months... I once made it and it wasn't bad actually (here kimchi is extremely expensive and sold in tiny bags).
As usually I have greatly enjoyed watching your grocery buys and dishes.

Thanks everyone for their respective comments.

Sissi, I thought you'd comment on the butter soy sauce flavored popcorn (laugh).

Hiroyuki, I'm sorry I have disappointed you ;-)
I like popcorn, but not as much as delicious tomatoes. Your tomatoes photo made me forget the popcorn! Last year I even had cherry tomatoes on my tiny balcony...

Sissi: The tomatoes and the cherry tomatoes are delicious indeed! I especially like the cherry tomatoes; they look like jewels to me, and they are definitely different from the store-bought kind.

Hiroyuki-san, that's EXACTLY the same kind of pear that I used to eat. I was in the military, and stationed in Okinawa - they always had a lot of them available at every meal.

Anonymous: You are quite welcome. I still often buy that particular brand when I want to buy some snack.
