New Year's Party/新年会

On January 2, I joined the new year's party (shin nen kai in Japanese) on behalf of my father.

Here are photos of the meals served there.

Nabemono (one-pot dish):

Sunomono (vinegared dish):
Sashimi:
Tempura:
Later, we were served a plate of sushi.
And, hand-made soba, as well.
Lastly, we were served a cake.
The meal cost 3,000 yen per person, excluding beverages. Very reasonable price!

I often wonder what is the difference between 酢の物(sunomono)、お新香(oshinko)、漬物(tsukemono)?
There seems to be many different ways to say pickled vegetables.

A sunomono is a dish seasoned with vinegar and other seasonings.

Oshinko (or oshinkou) and tsukemono can be used interchangeably, but some people may think that oshinko is more like 浅漬け (あさづけ), asazuke (quick pickle). We also have other terms,

The meal was wonderful, especially the hand-made soba (buckwheat noodles).
