Still Dieting/

I started dieting on December 17, and I have lost about 5 kg in about 50 days.
I don't follow any xxx diet.  I just try to eat less for every meal, trying to limit my calorie intake to 600 kcal a meal and 1,800 kcal a day.  I take a walk for 20-40 minutes almost every day.

My breakfast two days ago:
二日前の朝食:

By rough estimate, one bowl (about 200 g) of cooked rice has 300 kcal, and two packs (45 x 2 = 90 g) of natto have 200 kcal, so I guess the meal meets my criteria.

My lunch yesterday:
My lunch is almost always a combination of leftovers.  These particular onigiri were leftovers from my son's bento the day before yesterday.  (My son took six onigiri and some okazu with him, instead of a regular bento box.)
One onigiri weighed about 100 g, so had less than 200 kcal.  Three onigiri met my criteria.

I have to lose another 5 kg.

Supper tonight:
A bowl of rice (about 150 g), a bowl of miso soup with tofu, enoki, and wakame, salmon meuniere*, some potato, and some daikon and carrot kinpira.
*  I asked my wife not to dust my salmon with wheat flour, but she dusted one side by mistake.

Original and not westernized Japanese cuisine is so lean, you will make it in no time.

Kiki: I hope I can lose another five kg by the end of March.

You're right. Simple yakizakana (grilled fish) is lean, but fish a la meuniere isn't. I have to cautious about my sodium intake, though, because Japanese dishes tend to be salty.

It's a bit frustrating not being able to have some snacks between meals. When I'm really hungry, I do have some snacks that are no high in calories.

Congratulations, Hiroyuki! And good luck! You are doing great. I also got slimmer several years ago only by limiting the calorie intake and of course I ate less consequently... The rice and bread (French baguette...) reduction was the toughest!!!

Snack attacks are the worst. A friend lost 20 kg over 3 month by leaving carbohydrates out of his meals as potatoes, rice, bread, noodles, pasties. He looked really sick and unhealthy afterwards. Skipping bread and pasta is something I could never do.

Sissi: Thanks! But, I still have a long way to go!

Kiki: I can't stop eating rice, either, and that's why I hate stupid xxx diet, where xxx is apple, pineapple, banana, and even koya dofu (just to name a few)!

I couldn't live without bread and rice either! There is this famous protein - loaded diet and apart from it being apparently unhealthy, I couldn't even try: how could I live without carbs? Nowadays I try to eat half of my usual amount of rice and it's tough... but there is a second bonus: I practice better my chopsticks: I make sure not a single grain stays in the bowl (which for me is very difficult...).

Sissi: I try to eat more slowly. I'm a notoriously fast eater... They say, "Chew thirty times (per mouthful of food before swallowing)". I'm still learning...

I'm also trying to lose weight but this is diffcult because I think I have bad habits. I eat a lot of bread and carbs in general. (pasta at least once per week) But in the same way you can't stop eating rice, I can't stop eating bread! It's a staple I can't give up.

Stacy: I find your (and Sissi's and Kiki's) comment interesting because I (and most Japanese) consider that beef (and other meats) is a staple in your diet.

I try to limit my intake of rice by having miso soup and okazu first.
