Konnyaku Somen/

I'm sure that this particular product and other similar products are nothing new. It's only that this is the very first time that I have purchased this type of product. The product name of this particular product: Konnyaku Somen.
I thought it would be a good substitute for harusame (cellophane noodles). It contains soybean powder, among others.
And, it has only 12 kcal per 100 g!
I rinsed it three time thoroughly because it smelled of konnyaku.
I made Chinese-style salad by using it.
As usual, the dressing is a 3:3:1 mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar. I left out sesame oil this time.

The main dish was these cabbage hamburgers.
I placed some pizza cheese on top of them.

I have never seen konnyaku somen here, though konnyaku products are quite easily available in Japanese shops. Was the taste any different from the "natural" konnyaku noodles? (Which don't really have a taste, do they? haha!). I usually rinse konnyaku noodles twice (because of the smell): before cooking and then after a quick blanching process.
Your salad looks very refreshing.
You have reminded me how great konnyaku products are to watch one's waist and weight... I still have some tama konnyaku in the fridge... time to use it.

Sissi: The flavor was almost the same as regular shirataki (konnyaku noodles). I was a kind of disappointed because I had expected that the addition of soybean powder would make the distinctive smell of konnyaku less noticeable, but when I had it in the salad, the flavor didn't bother me at all because of the dressing.

Thank you for the explanation. I would expect the same as you...

Hi
Could you please tell me what kind of vinegar to use? Better still, can you show a photo of the vinegar bottle?
Probably not Chinese rice vinegar?

Thank you very much.

Rin

Rin: "Cereal vinegar" (穀物酢), such as that from Mizkan:

Use any vinegar of your choice!
