Hoshi Gaki (Dried Persimmons)/干し柿

This is my wife and son's very first attempt to make hoshi gaki (dried persimmons).
妻と息子が初めて干し柿を作りました。

Wow! I haven't eaten fresh dried persimmons in quite awhile! Did you grow the persimmons, too? How did they go about drying them?

No, the persimmons came from my wife's brother. I don't have a persimmon tree...
Just peel them, tie them to a string, (put them in boiling water for a while for sterilization), and hang them to dry for about 1 month. Rub them occasionally during that period.
As you may know, real hoshi gaki look "frosted" with the sugar that derives from inside.
